The Vidyalaya was set up in 1985 to meet the
Educational needs of the Children of the Central
Govt. employee of the District. Initially it was
housed in a relief centre at Thalangara. Later
it was shifted to another relief centre at
Anangoor. Now, the need for a permanent building
was felt more keenly than ever before.
Consequently, Govt. of Kerala provided 10 acres
of land at Udayagiri near Vidyanagar and the
foundation stone for the building was laid in
1988 by the then Governor of Kerala Mr.
P.Ramachandran. The work taken up by the CPWD,
was completed in 1992 and the school shifted to
the new building in August of the same year.
Till 2002, the school was a single section
school from classes I to XII (Science Stream).
But in 2003, the school was permitted to have
two sections for each up to Class X with a
Pre-primary section. Vidyalaya has total staff
strength of 42 and student strength of 930.
